Improve Messaging

Qualify & Disqualify

Sell More Easily

Reality check:

People don't want to buy our products or services. They want to solve their problems. This program quickly aligns your messaging with what matters most to them: outcomes.

What's the Conversion Marketing program?

It is a 6-week guided engagement meant to help clarify your marketing messaging and clearly identify your target audience. It's a perfect starting point in ensuring your marketing is on point and your sales team is prepared to sell to people who want to buy.

MiniBulk bags discovered that product quality and stock on hand (while high on the list) weren't their prospect's primary concern. Avoiding downtime is, because bag failure or lack of bags means their plant stops operating. The difference is in messaging to address the symptom vs the cure.

We asked Future Values' owner Sterling where his best clients came from. "LinkedIn," he replied. We dug deeper, tracing back to the source where he discovered they were accountant referrals. With that revelation, we knew who the target audience would be. Not clients, but their accountants (and massive potential).

When your supply chain is 5 layers deep, you might never know the end user/customer. Messaging is less about the product and more about why others promote their sale. Identifying the motivations of resellers at all levels of the supply chain is critical. Creating conversational fluency is the key.

Messaging Matters Program Outline

Let's get to know you.

We ask key stakeholders a lot of questions. Sales. Ownership. Even customers. We explore your goals, challenges, and the market opportunities you face. It's a facilitated conversation that works to uncover blocks, align team members, and focus your business thinking before moving into the products and services you sell.

Let's get to know who you sell to.

Not all organizations and audiences are good fit clients. Some are good. Some just aren't. Identifying truly ideal clients (the organizations or audiences you sell to) is task number one in positioning your products and services to ensure your sales team isn't spinning their wheels.

Who makes decisions and why?

Organizations don't buy, people do. The individuals at your ideal client organizations hold a variety of buying/blocking motivations/roles. Following proven account-based marketing methods, motivations are explored and documented for your sales team's reference.

(Swap 'organizations' for 'audiences' when your business is retail/direct to customer.)

What Do We Say to Them?

With customer motivations and profiles in hand, we work with you to craft personalized messaging to the people who buy or influence the buying decision. It's how we build conversational fluency and authentically engage with prospects. Sales can create a playbook with this info.

Copywriting

We review key copywriting frameworks to determine which is most applicable for your audience based on your chosen messaging approach. Initial content is drafted and refined until we have our messaging perfected.

Visual Design

This is where we put it all together. Brand guidelines, website design, collateral design, signage, and more are crafted to meet product/visitor/reader needs.

It's a fact that failing to align your messaging with your customers' desired outcome results in wasted time, costly expenditures, and ineffective campaigns. Let's avoid that.

Why work with Kayak?

Having worked with more than 700 organizations both large and small, we bring substantial experience to the table. We help marketers, sales managers, and business leaders improve lead conversion quality, shorten sales cycles, and achieve revenue goals. Our team has been doing this since 1999.

Kayak Marketing was founded in 2011 on the premise that you can accomplish much more when we're doing 'it' with you, than we ever could doing it for you. Our mission is to empower you to be more successful, with or without us.

The team went over and above to ensure that we were set up for long term success. Kayak is now a trusted partner that I would highly and heartily recommend.

Invaluable help maximizing our HubSpot tools and strengthening our content strategies. Kayak's team has class-leading capabilities.

Kayak's approach involved a lot of hands-on learning and knowledge transfer, which we really liked. And, that was the actual reason we selected Kayak.

We have worked with Kayak for a number of years including on a recent website redesign and they have always delivered top notch service, professionalism, and expertise.

Frequently Asked Questions about this Program

Are you going to do my job?

Nope. We'll coach you through the process of delivering higher quality messaging. That said, we're going to help. We've created countless campaigns, conducted hundreds of facilitated discussions and workshops, and helped clients solve communications challenges since 1999.

Is Conversion strategy Still Inbound Marketing?

Think of conversion strategy as the shorter-term plan compared to a longer-term Inbound plan. Conversion pages are the ultimate landing page your prospects will arrive at just prior to making a purchase or engagement decision. They got to your page via some form of referral...an email, word of mouth, social post, or even an advertising campaign. And they already have good feels about you. They aren't at the beginning of their buyer's journey; they're near the end of it. They WANT to take action.

Ideal client or Persona...what's the difference?

Ideal clients are the organizations we want to do business with. Personas are the individuals within those organizations who we want to communicate with.

Why should we hire you? We already know how to do this. We can even follow your outline.

Athletes hire coaches (plural) for a reason. They want to improve. Specialists help them achieve more. We're a specialist who can help you achieve more.

Our business is different. Have you worked with my industry before?

Given we've worked with more than 600 organizations over the years, we've likely worked in your industry. But, is that really important? There's something more here than that. YOU are the only one who truly knows your business. We bring marketing and communications expertise and considerable experience to your table. All of which we're willing to share with you. In the process, we'll learn about your business. By combining our expertise with yours, we have an opportunity to achieve far more than either could separately.

Why don't you just do it for me?

You mean like a traditional ad agency? Where you pay an invoice and they go off and create something? Where you don't know exactly what or why it was done? Where you don't see results and don't know why? Then you hire a different agency and do it all over again? That's why we do it WITH you. So you KNOW what was done, how to tweak it in the future, and how to build upon the success. Improvement becomes possible because you are part of it.

What's the "starts at $9,800" thing? Why don't you just give me a price?

In this area, your organization is different. The challenges and opportunities you face are different from other organizations. Some problems are easy to solve and some are complex. Your team members may have different levels of knowledge or learn in different ways, making for longer (or shorter) engagements. Like any good coach, we adapt our approach to your needs.

What's the schedule and commitment look like?

Generally, weeks 1 through 3 are done via workshops which are 2-4 hours in length. We try to schedule one per week so there’s time to think and do work between each session. Weeks 4 to 6 varies based on what is determined in weeks 1 to 3. We’ll work that out together.

How many leads can I expect as our outcome?

That's up to you. This program equips you for a lifetime of lead generation.
